Nora Lowinsky (b. San Francisco) is a self taught, self represented artist applying the medium of film photography, the process of darkroom printmaking and the use of expired and experimental film to convey feminine energy and identity through images that reflect the woman's collective unconscious. She is a working, traveling photographer, raised in New York City and based in Oakland, California. Her primary subjects, collectors and clients are women. She maintains creative autonomy on all commissions she takes, working alone with her subject or usually on a closed set of women in natural light. Her collaborative personal work reflects a self directed intuitive energy exchange between herself and muse. Her career upholds the rise in our communal desire to see women behind the camera, women photographed by women, women art directing and women empowering one another by example and in alliance as we continue to break down barriers and deconstruct patriarchal myths.
